SATELLINE RADIO MODEMS
400-470 and 868-870 MHz, 300 to 19200 B/S half-duplex

SATELLINE radio modems constitute a homogeneous range of products making it possible to fulfil in a perfectly adapted way each need for wireless communications.

SATELLINE radio modems are type approved in most European countries and elsewhere.

Our sales department is at your disposal to communicate to you the conditions of use of the modems in each country.

Recommendation according to the type of radio link to be realized:

Frequency Power Blocked radio paths * Clear radio paths * High spots * Recommended products
433 MHz 10 mW 50 m 200 m 1 Km 2ASxE, 3AS
869 MHz 100 mW 100 m 500 m 2 Km 1870
869 MHz 500 mW 1 Km 4 Km 10 Km 3AS
450 MHz 1 W 2 Km 5 Km 20 Km 2ASxE, 3AS
450 MHz 10 W 4 Km 10 Km 35 Km EPIC
80 MHz 10 W 10 Km 30 Km 70 Km CRT8
1.4 GHz 2 W - 10 Km > 100 Km FH1G4

*Blocked radio paths: buildings, narrow streets...
*Clear radio paths: suburban areas, wide spread factory site, rural zone...
*High spots: pylon, water tower, roof of building (at least one of the two points of connexion)...

The ranges indicated above take account of an additional margin (approximately 25 dB) to guarantee a correct transmission. They correspond to distances frequently observed in industrial environments.

To select your SATELLINE radio modem:

Advantages Disadvantages

1870
5 mW-100 mW radio modem,
9600 b/s, 868-870 MHz
RS232 interface

  • Economic (small price)

  • Adapted to the not very constraining applications where the cost of a 3AS radio modem is not justified

  • Low power consumption and size

  • Cover extension per repetition and routing of the data packets

  • Sensitivity lower than the other products of the range: - 104 dBm

  • Requires an environment with no or few interferences and clear radio paths as much as possible

  • Probability of interferences between networks stronger than with the other products of the range

  • Usable only on license free radio channels between 868 and 870 MHz

3AS
10mW-1W radio modem,
1200-19200 b/s,
380-470 or 868-870 MHz,
RS232,422,485 interfaces

  • Great sensitivity: - 113 dBm (good additional margin for the radio connexions)

  • Usable on channels subjected to license in the 400-470 MHz band, and on license free channels in the 868-870 MHz band

  • Possibility of change of the frequency bands (868-870 MHz or 400-470 MHz)

  • Possibility of use with remote antennas using a coaxial cable (on channels subjected to license)

  • Powerful even in environments with interferences (industry, roads, cities…) thanks to a very high selectivity which makes it possible to have several different applications running in the same place

  • Many functionalities of addressing, routing, and network topology

  • Using channels subjected to license reduce the risk of interferences

  • Price higher than for the 1870

  • Higher power consumption

  • Larger case than for the 1870

EPIC
1-10W radio modem,
1200-19200 b/s,
380-470 MHz,
RS232,422,485 interfaces

  • High transmission power, adjustable between 1 and 10W

  • Double receiver with permanent selection of the best signal (use in diversity mode)

  • Compatible with the 3AS radio modem in the 400-470 MHz band

  • Very long communication range for fixed or mobile applications

  • Adapted to the extreme environments

  • High power consumption

  • Larger case than for the 3AS

  • Price higher than for the 3AS

  • Usable only on channels subjected to license
