Committed to the European project CityMobil2, the Agglomeration of La Rochelle successfully completed in 2015 a demonstrator with 6 8-seater electric vehicles without driver.
Comatis acted in partnership with the Agglomeration by providing the two radio solutions allowing the precision positioning of vehicles and the crossing of traffic lights in autonomous mode (without human intervention).
Precision positioning is made possible by radio transmission of RTK corrections ensuring sub-metric accuracy.
Crossing of the intersections works by issuing requests for the passage of vehicles accompanied by authorization information from the traffic light controllers.
Comatis was naturally asked for this operation given its position as supplier of the bus priority solution at the La Rochelle traffic lights, in place since 2009.
